**From the Reformation to the University Anniversary**

Philipp of Hesse founded the University of Marburg as the world’s first Protestant university after the Homberg Synod of 1526 had decided to introduce the Reformation in the Landgraviate of Hesse. Consequently, the Philipps University’s anniversary in 2027 ties directly into the celebrations marking “500 Years of the Reformation” in Hesse. In Homberg (Efze), the day before (October 13), the event “From the Reformation to the University Anniversary” will kick off a bicycle relay team made up of students from the Collegium Philippinum of the Hessian Scholarship Foundation (known as “Stipe” for short). The new Philipp500 bike path takes them via Treysa to Marburg. They’re carrying a relay baton, which they’ll hand over to the university to mark the start of the anniversary year. In Marburg, they’ll be greeted by numerous members of the university community and, together with them, will march in a parade from the Old University up to the castle. A kickoff party will take place there, featuring performances by various DJs. Food and drinks will be available.

The first 500 guests will receive a complimentary anniversary cocktail (with or without alcohol).

2:00 p.m.: Welcome reception for the bicycle relay team from Homberg (Efze), followed by a parade to the Landgrave’s Castle; starting at 3:00 p.m., a party on the forecourt of the Landgrave’s Castle featuring DJ Handz, DJ Geilmann b2b DJ Hardkat, and DJ Jakob b2b DJ Pia

14:00 Uhr Empfang der Fahrradstaffel aus Homberg (Efze) mit Festzug zum Landgrafenschloss, ab 15:00 Uhr Fest auf dem Vorplatz des Landgrafenschlosses mit DJ Handz, DJ Geilmann b2b DJ Hardkat und DJ Jakob b2b DJ Pia.

Für Personen mit eingeschränkter Mobilität gibt es einen Shuttle-Service: Fahrten zum Schloss: Abfahrt an der Alten Universität gegen 14:30 Uhr, Abfahrt an der Universitätsverwaltung, Biegenstraße 10 (gegenüber des Copy Shops) um 15:30, 16:30, 17:30 und 18:30 Uhr. Fahrten vom Schloss zurück in die Biegenstraße: Abfahrt Carl-Duisberg-Haus um 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00 und 19:00 Uhr.
