Institut für Laboratoriumsmedizin
Free admission

Description
Laboratory medicine is in the middle of a transformation process. This is particularly evident in the following subject areas: (I) New biomarkers are discovered, characterized and clinically validated in the context of personalized medicine. These are used for (early) diagnosis, follow-up monitoring and prevention of illnesses. (ii) Digital laboratory medicine using AI technologies and robotics, together with the broad routine availability of high-throughput methods and multi-parameter analysis, is not only revolutionizing interprofessional everyday working life in laboratory medicine, but is also opening up new perspectives in the context of diagnostics and prevention for all of medicine. (Iii) When researching the effects of climate change on health, laboratory medicine plays an important role in assessing risks and monitoring the effects. (v) As part of internationalization, the cooperation in health care, research and training in bilateral exchange with our Center for Excellence at the KCMC Hospital in Moshi/Tanzania should be particularly highlighted. The symposium serves to describe the location of the institute and to develop a future perspective, together with national and international protagonists on the focal points listed above.
