Description
The museum reflects on its own history and that of its artworks. The web of relationships surrounding the art building during the National Socialist era extended far beyond university structures and the city of Marburg. A critical examination sheds light on acquisitions and exhibitions from 1933 to 1945, revealing the ambivalence of the figures involved at the time. Beyond the activities of creating, trading, collecting, and researching art, the works themselves tell the stories of their owners and possessors—stories that are diverse, incredible, tragic, and deeply moving.
